PRACTICAL GUIDANCE

Preparing an Unpaid Invoice for Recovery

A clear account history makes the first assessment more useful.

01Confirm the right business

Check the legal name on the order and invoice. Identify who contracted with you and who is responsible for payment.

02Build the account history

Prepare the invoice, due date, payments received, credit notes and a clear outstanding balance.

03Bring together the evidence

Keep the order, delivery or completion records, payment promises and correspondence in date order.

04Identify the issue

Tell us whether there is a dispute, a payment promise, an unexplained delay or a concern about the debtor’s ability to pay.

A practical preparation checklist, not a determination of legal entitlement. Contract terms and the circumstances of each account need individual review.
