PRACTICAL GUIDANCE

Preparing Unpaid Payment Applications for Review

An application and an agreed payable balance can be different. The records matter.

01Collect the payment documents

Prepare your subcontract, application, relevant assessment or certificate, payment notices and any pay-less notice received.

02Reconcile the figures

Show the amount applied for, amount assessed, deductions, payments received and the balance you are pursuing.

03Record the chronology

List application dates, contractual payment dates and the dates correspondence or notices were received.

04Flag disputed items

Identify valuation disagreements, variations, set-off or defects allegations separately. This helps establish whether collection or a specialist dispute route is appropriate.

A practical preparation checklist, not a determination of legal entitlement. Contract terms and the circumstances of each account need individual review.
